How To Cope With Step Children

Relationships : Family

If you have step children and relations are strained, then this can sometimes spill over out of frustration into your relationship with your partner.

You should always ensure that this does not happen.

That's because of course it causes friction between you and the kids and your partner, not good, but it also can put your partner on the defensive too.

If you criticise them for instance in front of the step-children then this can cause problems all round and tension too.

You should also try to get the step children to open up to you and tell you what they think about your partner. This can show them that you respect and are interested in their views, and is also a good way of getting to talk to them and getting to know them if they don't normally open up around you.
