Coping With Change: Anchor Points

Self Development : Confidence

When change occurs in anyone's life, it can be very unsettling.

Whether it is the end of a relationship, a job or worse both - or the death of someone you are close to, the change and impact on your life is all too real, here and now, and tangible.

So what can you do in these circumstances to help you get through such difficult changes?

The key is to identify what are called anchor points.

These are things where you literally set root around and know for certain, and can give you the strength to get through.

For instance if you lose your job, your friends and family can act as anchor points to get you through.

If you lose your partner, then perhaps something else will keep you strong - maybe religion, for instance, if you are a spiritual person.

Any constant theme as it were that is there whilst everything else is up in the air is a potential anchor point and by using wisely you can get through any major and often traumatic change.
