Cut Your Food Bill

Money : Saving

Cut your weekly food bills by using comparison sites to search for the best deals on the Internet. MySupermarket is a good one to use and it compares the 4 main shops - Tesco, Sainsbury’s, ASDA and Ocado (which is Waitrose).

Drop branded items and go for supermarket own versions as they will often taste similar but be a lot cheaper. Also look at the top and bottom shelves in the supermarket as these tend to be cheaper than the eye level middle items.

Food that is reduced because its on its last day of sell by date is worth buying if its going to be eaten within the next few days. A few days over the date shown will not harm your health or make you ill. Obviously use by dates are different and should be stuck to, but best before ones are more flexible.

Sites like Approved Food and Food Bargains sell short dated and out of date food and drink products at a much lower price than the supermarket.

Buy in bulk if there are saving offers shown.

Eat in season fruit and vegetables as they will be cheaper.
