How To Deal With A Burnt Tongue

Health And Fitness : Top Health Tips

If you have burnt your tongue from eating or drinking something that was too hot, then the best thing to do is drink an ice cold drink and leave it sitting in your mouth to rest on top of your tongue. Try this a few times to reduce the burn it will leave. An ice cube or ice cream will also help.

Also try breathing through your mouth so the cold air flows over your tongue.

Applying a medicine like Bonjela may also help soothe any symptoms.

Remember your tongue heals quicker than other parts of your body so you should only have to endure the pain for 1 or 2 days. However if it is severe or lasts longer than 5 days, you should go and see the doctor.

Stay away from acidic food and drinks until it has healed as this will probably just irritate it further. Avoid rubbing your tongue against your mouth or teeth until it is healed otherwise you might get an ulcer.

Always wait for food and drink to cool down before consuming to avoid any more burns.
