How To Deal With A Sleepwalker

Health And Fitness : Top Health Tips

Your Little sleepers.

Doc says:

As many as 30 million Americans are sleepwalkers. This medical condition is most prevalent between the ages of 6 and 12, but usually ends by age 14. If it continues beyond age 18 seek counseling.

Here are some tips on dealing with sleepwalkers:

Don?t Wake Them Suddenly.
If you wake a sleeper up abruptly, you can startle him, and end up with a black eye.
Do try to gently ease him back to bed, and encourage him to sleep on his back.
You can talk to him but in a soothing and gentle manner

Protect Them.
Don?t intervene with a sleepwalker. But you should take measures to protect him from injury. This means lock doors, gates on stairs, bolting down windows, and removing all sharp- edged toys. Then when protected from injury they will do fine. They?ll either go back to bed by themselves, or sleep somewhere else.

Children Unaware Of Actions.
Children have been known to leave the house while sleep walking. Some were even running to school, for fear of being late.
It might even be a good idea to remove bathroom hampers. Children have used these as urinals.

Children Need Sleep.
Being overtired, or not getting enough sleep, is a big culprit behind sleepwalking.

SO PARENTS IT?S YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, TO MAKE SURE YOUR CHILDREN GET THE FULL AMOUNT OF SLEEP REQUIRED.
