How To Deal With Being Dumped

Self Development : Relationships

Sometimes, no matter how hard you try in a relationship, it will end. There can be many reasons for this, and they can be good reasons or bad reasons.

If you are dumped - and at some stage in life virtually everyone is - then you may take a knock in confidence and feel down, angry, betrayed, cheated, unhappy, sad or a whole mix of other emotions that are generally viewed as negative.

So what can you do to overcome being dumped? How should you act?

The first thing to do is to cut off contact with the person who dumped you. In the long run this is the cleanest and best way to get over them.

The second thing to do is not to blame yourself or treat yourself badly for splitting up, or associate any negative emotions or feelings for yourself.

You need to try to detach yourself from the situation - how would you advise a friend to act in this situation? Listen to your own friendly advice, and move on.

Try to stay busy - moping around never helped anyone. By keeping busy you will soon find other interests outside of your relationship.

Take time with friends and family, and develop new bonds and relationships.

In time, you will get over it, but in the meantime, be kind to yourself.
