How To Deal With Cat Up A Tree

Pets : Cats

It sounds like the headling of a local newspaper article - cat stuck up a tree - but it does really happen from time to time, with some pets being quite adventurous climbers.

If a pet gets stuck it will get scared and may get very anxious. To stop this getting worse, you need to remain calm - even if worried internally.

Talk to your cat as normal, and put some of their fave food at the base of tree. You can also try putting a ladder against the tree for the cat to use, and be patient.

If the ground is suitable and you are happy going up a ladder, then climb up and try to lift the cat down, gently. Note that this is much safer with someone else to hold the ladder for you as you climb.

If you are unable to climb and the cat just is not coming down after an extended period, then the step will be to call in the professionals - in this case an animal handler, who will be able to help.

My cat has got up a tree a few times over the years. He actually managed to get down perfectly fine himself a couple of the times, but once we had to go up a ladder, but, the worst part was, it was the middle of the night, and, he was on a different road, so me and my family were all walking up someone's road with a ladder in the dead of night, I'm sure people though we were robbers! My cat was retrieved safe and well though. Now, he's learned from his mistakes and hasn't chased any squirrels since!
