How To Decide What You Are Planning

Education : Essays

Everyone knows: writing a plan is essential when writing an essay. You also know that in the plan you should write the key points, the beginning, middle and end.

BUT how do you know WHAT that is! Well, before you write the plan, you need to plan(!)

Like this:

- decide what the AUDIENCE of your writing will be. This will inform the plan: formal, informal, someone you know etc.,

- decide on the PURPOSE of the letter

- what TONE is most relevant: formal, friendly, personal

Answering these means you are halfway there to knowing what to put in the plan!
