Dietician

Jobs : Job Profiles

A dietician, as the name suggests, spends a large part of their time creating and advising clients on a suitable nutrition program for them; either to improve the quality of their diet or help them lose weight - usually, both.

With more and more people suffering from obesity in the western world and more and more people on a diet, the demand for this role has soared massively in recent years and there is good money to be made in this boom area.

What do you do? As well as recommending diets, you are often involved in identifying health issues and hence treating effectively. Therefore a good scientific grounding in the basics of metabolism and the body is useful.

Key skills are good human people skills, coupled with respect and responsiveness.

You should have a bachelors degree in diet, foods or simiar area; or a science degree. As a registered practictioner you would need to pass an exam in Dietetics.
