| DIY : Building If you are installing a security system, then there are several options open to you. The easiest of all, but one that could be effective, is to have simply a doorbell that plays the sound of a dog barking realistically -this can put off the opportunist burglar who often rings the bell first to see if anyone is in. Note that even basic and cheap kits can be very effective, security lights are easy to install and a popular deterrent as they will light up the path of the burglar and make it harder for them to cover their tracks. Next up is the video system again these have fallen in price and risen in quality. Some even come with videos so you can see exactly what is going on outside your house.
