How To Do Mental Arithmetic

Education : Maths

How to do mental arithmetic:

if you need to multiply 2 numbers together

i.e. 29 x 36

think in terms of 10,

multiply the higher number by 10 to the nearest ten, for instance the nearest 10 to 29 is 30,

which is 3 x 10

3 x 36 is 108

multiply by 10 to make 1080 then take away 36 making the answer 1044

this can be applied to 100's, and is an easy way of working out sums quickly and accurately.
