Food And Drink : Great Food Tips

Change your normal bowl of cereal to some chopped fruit with a spoonful or two of cereal instead.

Swap your lunch time ham salad sandwich for a large ham salad, as it will be healthier.

Instead of a jacket potato, maybe go for a bowl of vegetable soup.

Opt for smoked kippers or salmon for breakfast, with scrambled eggs.

Snacks could include some nuts and seeds, grapes, oranges, apples, low fat hummus and popcorn.

Go for lentils instead of your usual mashed potato.

Adds in strips of lean beef to your stir frys, beans to casseroles and pulses to soup and curry.

Breakfast should be the largest meal of the day followed by a medium lunch and a small evening meal. Maybe use a side plate instead of a big dinner plate so you eat less.

Have low fat yoghurt or fresh fruit for pudding instead of ice cream or cakes.

Avoid having snack foods around in the house, which you will be tempted to eat in the evening.
