| Business : Career Techniques Follow up applications with a phone call to the relevant company. When sending out your CV unprompted, make sure you do this. If you haven't heard anything after a few weeks, then just call them, tell them who you are and that you sent in a form and you would like to discuss a position with them. Try to call towards the end of the working day when people are often winding down and tidying up after work but are still at their desks. If you can't get through, leave a message and if they do not get back to you, simply attempt again a few days later. This way someone there will have to speak to you, they will see that you are keen and you are more likely to get offered that interview rather than stay at the bottom of a rather large pile of applications which never see the light of day. It's amazing what a phone call can do for you!
