Events Planner
Jobs : Job Profiles An event planner will need to be an extremely well organised person, able to analyse potentially complex client requirements quickly and efficiently. You will need to be a good leader, motivator and team player; able to communicate instructions clearly but correctly, and have a good eye for detail. A list of contacts will be very helpful, and an idea as to marketing and media relations is key. You will be responsible for one or all aspects of a meeting, conference or other get together, whether in a business or non-commercial context. As such you may also have to monitor and even control a set budget to cover catering, equipment, and even security for certain events. You do not necessarily need a degree but a track record of organising is essential. Often event planners start as executive secretaries or PAs organising complex events for senior employees at large companies. Many event planners now offer their services as a freelancer and work on a project by project basis. As such a resume of previous events organised is very useful as a sales tool.
