Exam Technique: The Exam Paper
Education : Exams And Revision When it comes to exams, funny things happen. Those with the most knowledge don't always do the best, and those with a base knowledge but no more can do surprisingly well. Why? Well, it all boils down to what is known as 'exam technique' - the way that you use your knowledge to answer the questions to the best of your ability. The first tip is that when you get the paper you probably notice that people start writing straight away. Don't do this. The very first thing you should do when you open the paper is to read - read the paper from start to finish. This gives your mind the chance to sub-consciously note both the length of paper, the number of questions, and set your mind ticking away for answers whilst you concentrate on another question. So for best results in exams, make it a habit to read through some start to finish, before you even put pen to paper. It only takes a minute or two and is a sound investment of your time.
