Exam Technique: Your Writing

Education : Exams And Revision

With the pressure of exams and the need to write quickly, the handwriting of many turns from something that is readable to a totally illegible scrawl.

The solution is to practice writing at speed before hand so that you can still get good writing at speed, and also to choose the best pen for you.

You will want one that can glide over the page with little resistance, therefore use something like a biro rather than a fountain pen unless you are comfortable writing at speed in fountain pen ink.

Remember then that being legible is more important than having a good writing style, perhaps with the one exception of English.

If examiners find it hard to read your writing then it makes it a lot slower to mark a paper, and they may even be less inclined to give you marks (they are only human!)
