How To Experiment With Your Triple Jump

Sport : Athletics

One of the most important decisions for an triple jumper is to decide which leg to use for each phase of the event.

You will probably find the best way for you to get a good jump is to take off the board with your strongest, or so-called dominant, leg.

This will not only give you more spring in the first phase, but crucially should give you more control to go in a straight (linear) fashion rather than off at an angle.

However you can also by all means experiment taking off with your weaker leg, for some this is useful to develop the weaker leg at least.

Overall jumping with the dominant leg should give the best consistent results though, as of course it means that you are leading with the stronger leg for two of the three phases.
