| Christmas A recently split-up couple may be strapped for cash individually for obvious reasons. Therefore if this happens, then you should consider trying to put your differences aside for the sake of children and buying presents for them. Try to pool some cash where you each put in a certain amount and then one parent buys one present and the other another, for each child, unless one parent is quite happy to buy all the presents. This increases the spending power, and it is often better to pool cash and get something a child really wants than to get two things that they are fairly indifferent to!
