How To Fix A Woodscrew Which Won't Tighten.

DIY : Home Repair

Every so often you come across a situation where after removing screws from things like hinges, you find that the screws won't "bite" into the hole again, and you can't use a bigger screw.

Simple solution: push a couple of matchsticks or wooden toothpicks into the hole, and snap them off flush with the surface - this provides a miniature 'rawlplug' to hold the screw. For extra hold, coat the sticks with woodglue.
