Florist
Jobs : Job Profiles This flowery pursuit has undergone something of a revival of late. A florist, of course, manages decorative bunches of floewrs and greenery for all sorts of events, from funerals to weddings. You may work in a market stall, run your own shop or supply a major chain. You may also be employed to maintain the flowers at offices, for instance many London based companies have contracts to maintain their gardens or provide flowers. You will need creativity, good artistic flair and great people skills to deal with a wide variety of clients. If you run your own business a business course or experience in this sector will be useful. There are courses in floral design which are a real asset, often adult education or technical classes can be very helpful. There is great competition in this sector, but there are plenty of jobs and opportunities out there. Some perform flower arranging or supplying flowers on a part time basis to supplement other income streams.
