Friendships And Telling Lies

Relationships : Teenagers

When it comes to lying, the real fact of the matter is that we ALL lie from time to time, yes even you if you are feeling whiter than white, will lie from time to time!

But when it comes to lying to friends, should we or should we not?

As ever there is no right or wrong answer and it really does depend on the situation, the reason for lying and of course the extent of the lie that we decide to tell.

A recent survey has actually shown that women are more likely to lie than men, shock horror, and around half of people in that survey have lied to a friend at some time or another.

I think that the answer is really that 100% of people have lied to a friend at some time, and the 50% that said they had not lied were lying, which can get confusing so don't dwell on it.

When it comes to lying, it is generally better to do it to help your friends out and to save them face. For instance if someone says something really hurtful about them, then just say that you did not hear what they said rather than repeat it to them which will just upset them and it won't help them.

And if you think that your best friend's child is a total nightmare, then you should probably not say that either, although you could mention in a more gentle way that you are amazed how confident they are, rather than talking about them as a precocious little brat for instance!
