How To Get A Good Nights Sleep

Health And Fitness : Top Health Tips

It's a worrying fact that in the UK, 58% of us have a minimum of 1 bad night's sleep a week, and 18% have insufficient sleep most nights.

Causes for poor sleep include worrying about something or being unable to switch off, drinking too much caffeine or alcohol, eating late, going to bed on an empty stomach, strenuous exercise in the evening, and sharing a bed with a snorer.

Ensure you dont drink much 2-3 hours before you go to bed, then you wont have to get up in the middle of the night. Also make sure your room is cool, but with a warm bed. Sleep in a separate room if your partner disturbs you.

Try to relax in the evening, maybe by reading a book or having a warm shower. Make a list of everything you have to do tomorrow so you dont need to try and remember it. Switch off your phone and computer. Turn off all the lights and set your alarm for the next morning if you need to get up early. Set 2 alarms 5 minutes apart if you are worried you will get up and switch it off, then go back to bed.
