When it comes to getting a good jogging style, it is best to learn from the experts.

There are lots of videos of the top marathon runners and joggers so you could study these at a free online video site and then notice how they move their limbs and how their jogging technique is relative to yours, and then try to emulate.

Alternatively if you are a member of a running club or know someone else who is a regular jogger (and does not appear prone to injuries!) then go out for a run with them, and notice their style. You can even ask the opinion of that jogger or another jogger that you trust - or your local fitness trainer - to watch you for a few minutes and see if your style is OK.

The only thing to be aware of is that if you ask for feedback some people feel compelled to give it if there is nothing wrong, so you should look for key points that you can address when people say that your technique is lacking.

The key is to allow your body to move smoothly across the ground you cover, and without too many jarring impacts: so if your feet are smacking hard into the tarmac with each stride putting stress in your body, something is wrong. You should try to bounce as much as possible when you run, and so the queiter the movement of your jogging the better, it shouldn't be 'plod plod plod'! Also try to keep your head fairly still. And remember to bend your arms too!
