The best way to get rid of it is it simply rub with some ice cubes, this will make the gum as hard as it does on other items and you can then pull it off when it is brittle and not sticky and therefore is easy to get off. Note that you should never use a heat source with leather as this can affect the leather, therefore if there is any tough gum in hard to reach areas, you need to spread the leather item out, be careful not to stretch it in the process, and then apply the ice to those small bits of gum or other stickies left there.
