How To Get Rid Of That Kipper Smell!

Food And Drink : Great Food Tips

We love kippers but don't like the lingering aroma! A really good way of getting rid of the smell is to wash the plates and cutlery in very hot water to which you have added detergent and mustard. I add mustard powder to my dishwasher if the utensils are part of a load and if I have used the microwave to cook the kippers I wash the turntable and the microwave inside with hot water and mustard. I don't know why this works, but it does.
