There is no point going on a rainy or cold day as its likely not many buyers will show up. Go through all your belongings and have a big clear out. Put anything you don’t use into several boxes and load them up into your car the night before. Make sure you get a good nights sleep and set your alarm for early the next morning. Take your own food and drinks with you as the fast food at the car boot can be expensive. You dont want to spend all your profits. From past experience, clothes, toiletries/smellies, DVDs and gifts tend to sell really well. Items including books and games don’t always go down well especially if you have a lot of them. When you set up your stall, make yours look the best. Put all your most expensive and nicest items out first and remember not to just chuck everything on. This will put buyers off, and they will think you cant be bothered. Display everything nicely with all books together, all toiletries together and so on. This will make it easier for people to find what they are looking for and it likely to generate duplicate things being sold. Don’t put too much out at once as I have found that in the past this also puts people off as they don’t know where to look and often to the eye its harder to focus on a couple of items when there is so much in front of you. If you have a lot of DVDs for example, you could do a 2 for 1 deal to encourage multiple sales, and any gift sets you could take out the individual items and display them separately. Buyers wont usually pay more than £2 for a toiletry gift set for example so if you have 5 bottles in there, then you could easily sell them for 50p each instead which equals £2.50.
