Within reason people either have the ability within them to do this or just can't muster it up. The best advice therefore is to simply think what have you got to lose. To be honest, not a lot. If you get a date then great. If they say no, then so be it - if this is someone random you have met out and about then you probably won't see them again anyway and there is no reason why your mates should know. So in other words you have a lot to gain and very little to lose. If the other person isn't interested or says no then so what - it is hardly the end of the world is it!
