How To Grow Potatoes

Gardening : Growing Plants

- Choose a site that gets lots of sun, has well-drained soil, and where the soil is high in phosphorus and potassium and low in nitrogen.

- Dig the soil to a foot deep (12 inches) and compost accordingly

- Plant 2 to 4 weeks before the last frost

This should help you get your potatoes off on the right footing. Just make sure that you aren't planting potatoes that you have bought in the supermarket - they are special varieties that are often treated to delay their sprouting. Even if they do sprout, they will not be as good as dedicated planting potatoes!
