Haircare Help For Girlies

Beauty : Haircare

Hello. My name is Holly and I am 16 years old. I am training to be a hairdresser and would like to offer some advice.
Ok so being a teenager I understand about the problems girls face.
1. GREASY HAIR
It is due to a build-up of the natural secretion ('grease' or, more correctly, sebum) from glands in the scalp (sebaceous glands). The sebum passes into the hair follicle and spreads upwards and over the hair shaft.
I would recommend not washing your hair every day. This can damage your hair and make it thinner and more wiry. Every other day is fine but you may find your hair gets greasy quickly. I would say that using dry shampoo is best for that. It is a quick, spray-on fix that is good to use lightly in the morning or evening. The 'Tropical' range at Boots is inexpensive and does the job.
If you are looking for you need to look out for these:
Proteins – amino acids, hydrolyzed proteins, keratin.
Milk – for its protein, not for its fat. Good for split ends or damaged hair.
Balsam – excellent when combined with proteins. Adds volume by coating the shaft.
Vitamins – Panthenol found in B5 is absorbed into the shaft and helps strengthen it.
Moisturisers – lactic acid, lecithin, urea. Especially helpful for dry or over-colored hair. Oils and waxes – avocado oil, coconut oil, wheat-germ oil. Makes the hair look shiny and smooth.
Lemon – citric juice. Good way to strip accumulated oils and dirt for oily hair.
Polymers – almost all shampoos and conditioners have this and it’s a nice coating that adds volume and strength.
2. DANDRUFF
Some people get dandruff more than others and if that is you then pay attention!
Dandruff can be caused by extreme weather conditions but in most cases it is just our skin cells renewing. New skin cells are formed so the old ones are pushed to the surface of our scalp.
I recommend using an anti dandruff shampoo such as Head and Shoulders, and then using a conditioner that is also anti dandruff. Head and Shoulders has a wide range to suit individual conditions.

These are two of the main haircare problems that my young clients face. I hope that all you girls that read this will benefit from this.
