How To Help Children Read In Public

Education : Teaching

Many kids are shy about reading in public. It can be hard to get them to agree to stand up in front of the class and read from the book.

Therefore sometimes you just have to nominate children to read out to the group. Ensure when you do this you are fair, and do not just pick the people who like to read - they are probably already good and therefore need to develop less. Rather ensure that everyone gets a chance.

Encourage them not to be nervous, and to speak more slowly than they would normally. This will also give them more time to interpret the words on the page, get the meaning, and to read the sentence correctly.
