HIPs Explained For House Buyers

Money : Property

If you are in the process of buying a house or thinking of doing so, then you may have heard the phrase HIPs bandied about.

HIPs are Home Information Packs, and are a government idea (always a dangerous thing...) to try and make the buying and selling process easier and less laborious in the UK, a noble if lofty aim.

There are many interesting changes proposed with this, notably buyers will always know how good or bad a property is (in terms of its state) before they make an offer.

Whether they will be a good thing is currently up for debate. The cost seems quite hefty - at around the level of ?1000 for a detached property!
