Holiday Home Swaps

Travel : Travel Tips

Here are some tips to help you when going on a holiday home swap with another family.

Don’t swap unless you have exchanged documents to make sure they say who they really are, such as a passport and a copy of a recent bill to ensure their home actually exists.

Don’t expect your home to be left in the best state, and unless you agree to do each others cleaning you may want to hire a cleaner to tidy up after each visit.

Check if your insurance covers guests staying, and as no money is exchanging hands, most insurers should cover any accidents.

Be honest about your property and don’t make it out to be better than it actually is or your swap family wont be very happy.

Of course hide any valuables or precious items, and leave a list of things to help them out.

Leave a small gift for them when you leave such as flowers or wine, to say thanks. It will help keep them in a good mood and show you’re grateful.
