How Do You Register To Vote In The General Election?

Politics

There is an annual canvass through which a registration form for voting is put through your letterbox.

You must respond to this in order to vote. If you are in any doubt then you should get in touch with your local registration office, which will be in the phone directory and also available online through the relevant internet search.

If you are not sure if you're currently registered to vote or not then you should get in touch with your local electoral registration office who wil be able to give you the definitely answer.

You cannot register to vote by telephone, but you can ask the local registration office to send you a registration form that way.

It is important that you are on the electoral register for several reasons - for instance not being registered might even have an impact on your credit rating!
