How To Identify Bird Song
| Hobbies : Birdwatching Bird song is a great way of identifying birds. In some circumstances it is the only real way to know what a bird is - for instance in a forest or dense canopy you are very unlikely to actually see the birds, but will often hear them singing away. The best and easiest way to get familiar with the song of each bird is to buy a tape or CD of different bird songs. Play it back a few times and notice the distinctive features of each bird song. In time you can come to identify many species from their bird song alone. If in doubt you could go out with a recorder when bird spotting, and record a bird song you are unfamiliar with. Then play it back later and compare to the birds whose songs you think it might be.
