How To Improve Your Online Banking Safety

Money : Banking

Online banking phishing scams have been all the rage of late with much press coverage given to the topic.

However, there are things that you can do to help yourself.

First, always ensure that your virus software is up to date and active when you bank online. Also ensure that your anti-spyware software and firewall are all up to date.

Then, ensure that you change your password regularly.

Ideally, change it once a month if you can.

When you make your password, try to have something quite long and cryptic. For instance two many people still put the names of their children or their favourite place as the word.

Any password containing a real word is shown to be much easier to guess as hacking software usually tries known words and combinations first.

Best is a nonsense mix of upper and lower case and numbers, with lots of consonants to ensure it is not a real word, and the odd exclamation mark as well.
