One crucial element for any runner is, of course, their stride length. If you want to get the best stride length or are having problems determining it, then try running sand. If you can find sand, then try some loose gravel.

Because of the nature of this, we naturally tend to revert to what will actually be the best stride length for us in normal running. Therefore measure the length of your stride in that medium and then try to adopt this as your style on normal surfaces.

Remember that shorter strides tend to faster and are also less likely to lead to injury for you.

A final tip with improving stride length is to actually try and relax as much as possible in your posture, as this should also help you to get a smooth rhythm and therefore more consistent and natural stride length.
