If you are a cross country runner, then you may well find it hard to work out your pace, whilst being competitive.

There is a great temptation to set off quickly, and set the pace - hoping that others will flag. The problem is that this usually doesn't work - front runners on average don't win the race.

Endurance is the key to winning in cross country, but how can you build up that endurance without lots of gruelling runs?

Well, one of the best exercises that you can do for this is skipping. Try skipping for 5 minutes, three times a day. The results will be profound.

It is simple, very cheap and easy - and will really do wonders for your endurance.
