Well, it is simply a measurement of how big the tiny holes in your skin are that allow the exchange of fluids - typically sweat - to be released from the body. It is useful as a measurement of your skin type, a more traditional concept, as small pores generally tend to indicate dry skin, whilst larger pores mean that you are most likely to have oily skin.
