How To Keep Credit Card Costs Low

Money : Money Management

If you want to keep credit card costs low or even non existent, then there is one simple mantra that you should live by: always pay off credit card bills in full or as much as you can each month.

That's because the interest rate on a credit card will tend to be higher than for any other product you have (unless you have some extortionate store card or interest rate on a loan) and therefore it makes sense to prioritise this bill over other things.

Example: if you have savings, dip into them to pay off the credit card. Almost certainly you will be paying more interest on the credit card than earned on those savings, therefore it is worth using savings to pay off credit card debts.
