It can be hard to recognise this but you must let them decide and go down their own path on certain issues, particularly those that are not moralistic but just personal preference. Therefore you should always be willing to respect their opinion. By all means argue your point but if you encourage them to take responsibility and think for themselves that will only be good in the long run.
