Life Coaching: What It Is

Self Development : Changing Your Life

In modern living, the psychologists of all sorts are having a field day and business has never been so good.

One of the latest to appear is the so-called life coach, so what is one of these people, how do they help - and do they need to have their own life in great shape in order to offer advice and help others?

Well, a life coach is someone that psychologists often use to help the people they work with improve their life in some way.

Often when they are in a period of unrest or lacking an anchor: workwise, social or otherwise, in order to help them come to terms and move on and find what they want, and in that sense to help them grow and develop in the directions they want to move.

Therefore life coaching is a bit of a hybrid discipline as it contains elements from many different practices and subjects, as well as a very healthy dose of common sense and preferably very good people and rapport building skills.

The process can be reasonably scientific with goals being set and used of techniques such as modelling behaviour to try and work out what is going on and what could be improved and so on.
