Lifting is something most of us need to do at some stage, whether around the home or even in the work place.
But few people get trained how to do it correctly, and bad lifting can cause back problems or trigger those that you may already have!
The key is to ensure that your back does not take the strain.
Rather use your legs to take the strain.
To do this you need to make sure that you place your feet at either side of the object, bend your knees right down, with back straight.
Then as you hold the object, stand up by straightening your knees, in this case your legs are taking the strain and not your back.
Of course always try to break a load down into as small and as manageable bits as you can, even if this means further trips - that's better than a bad back!
