How To Make A Room Feel Less Tall

DIY : Decorating

Getting the balance of a room and the rooms in your house can be something that is quite tricky and challenging to do.

In some houses particularly older ones you may feel an imbalance and that the room is too tall or off-puttingly so (though in a sense this is a nice problem to have).

If this occurs then remember that you can use something to break the wall up and make it look less foreboding.

For instance a well placed picture rail or even a striped border can work well to split it up and distract the eye from its height.

Also try to use the same colours on the ceiling as you have on the floor, e.g. the carpet, and again the eye will naturally match the two together and be less conscious of the space that is inbetween!
