How To Make A Wildlife Pond

Pets : Fish

If you want to attract lots of wildlife to your pond, then consider the following:

Shallow, sloping edges are great for little birds to come and wash in.

A good section of water plants will be a haven for all sorts of insects like dragonflies and so on.

Over time frogs will come, but you could consider moving frogspawn from a friends' pond or so on to speed things up.

Adding a few goldfish is a good idea to help keen the pond clean, and also to ensure that fly eggs and larva are eaten up and don't overtake your pond.

Consider adding pond weed to improve the water quality and keep it clean. Pond snails are also useful in this regard.

Water lilies will provide shelter and shade for fish and a place for pond snails to lay eggs, as well as having nice flowers.

A small fountain can be decorative as well as helping to aerate the water in the pond.
