Keep it simple and light. Natural is better. Less is more. Focus on one feature and maybe do some darker eye make up or lips for a night out. DONT Don't over do shimmer as it will look tacky. Dont be afraid to experiment and try new products or shades. Dont forget blusher as it will make you look healthier. Dont hang on to out dated techniques. And finally, don't leave your home without putting on any concealer. It is not only for eye bags and spots, so dab it lightly over any blotchy area before you put your foundation on, to even out your skin colour. Moisture beforehand though so it is smoother.
