| Business : Marketing Change your attitude to marketing. Don't view it as a waste of time or money, but see it as something that is essential. If you don't market your business then there isn't much chance you will survive. Be business like with marketing too, measure how much budget you are committing and what the return on that investment is. Does the expensive national newspaper advert run once a month bring in as much business as the much cheaper local paper ad run weekly? If not then ditch the national advert and increase advertising in local and regional newspapers. Monitor trends and patterns over time; and always ask new or potential customers how they found out about you. Try to get listed in as many free business directories as possible. Local councils often have lists or publications of businesses in the area.
