How To Maximise Your Time In An Exam

Education : Exams And Revision

First - you want to split your time to give you five minutes or so at the end to scan your answers for mistakes to correct.

Second - split your time on a MARK BY MARK basis.

For instance if there are 60 marks in the exam and it is an hour long exam, then you should allocate a minute or so per mark.

Therefore if there are questions for one or two marks do not write a long answer: there will be nothing to gain and time to lose.

However, spend longer on a 10 - 20 mark question, which may be a short essay or a few paragraphs to answer.
