Indeed if an IFA seems to be able to advise on the whole gamut of products and areas then you must ask the question whether they are a jack of all trades and master of none. Rather, IFA's should admit their speciality areas and focusses and only feel comfortable advising you in these particular areas. The more experienced the IFA and the more used they are to dealing with clients in your circumstances, or at least very similar, then the chances are that they will be best suited to advise you with regard your financial decisions.
