When they don't it can be frustrating and embarassing as you will be unable to take the coat off, or alternatively it will be stuck half way up! The best thing you can do is to stop tugging as soon as you get resistance, as otherwise you could make matters worse! Ensure that the zipper is lined up and not snagged against the lining. If so, remove from the lining. Ensure that you pull in a straight line, and go back down to the bottom first to release the pressure. These methods should help you open even a tricky zipper! If you get stuck in your coat, ask a friend or colleague to help you unzip - it's easier when you are not actually in the coat!
