Paint A Garage Floor

DIY : Decorating

Painting.First ensure surface is clean and sound. When using a single pack product (not mixed with hardeners or similar ) dilute the first coat (up to 15%) with suitable thinners to ensure the product is absorbed into the substrate, remember you are not trying to get a finish with this coat just a sound primer. As a rule of thumb if it looks great the following day you have done it wrong!. After the advised drying time check the floor, Cold weather will extend the drying time, as will lack of air flow. When you know it is fully dry then overcoat with a full coat of the product ensuring that if you are using more than one tin you premix these together to ensure colour mix, (this is called Boxing and is advised to be done whenever more than one tin is to be used whatever the paint product). Again allow ventilation to assist evaporation of the solvents and the following day stand back and admire your work. Just a short note to advise that if you intend leaving a car on the surface please leave at least seven days before driving over it as the paint will not have achieved its full hardness for at least this time.
